For many years my "attempted area of specialization has been handicaps",i like the fact that because of the greater difference of opinion you can back horses at the front end of the market and still obtain a decent average price,with the added advantage that occasionally you can back a "form horse" at a double fig price.

Its interesting to note that in the past few years they appear to have become more fashionable as a betting medium.

I would be interested in reading members views on this subject

Handicaps are what make the big money for the bookies which is why the sponsor them so much, and really push those with big fields with a lovely overround in there favour.

It's easier to make money out of maidens than anything else though on the flat.

If i was to go back to backing horses i would be looking at handicaps as although Keith rightly says the overround is greater inon handicaps have become alot lot harder in the last 3 years
