    Rituals

No bets for me today so am in full flow here.

I was wondering if members observe any rituals regarding thier betting

One of mine is that i never watch a race i have bet in but prefer to listen to the commentary.I cannot explain my reasoning behind this as there is none it is just something i have done for several years now.

I dont think it is fear and the only possible reasoning that i can come up with is a hankering for the old days in the bookies when this was all that was available.Staring intently at the sound speaker as if it would make your horse run faster enjoying a smoke, and appreciating the work of art in multi coloured chalks that was prouduced by the 60yo "board boy"made even losing more bearable. oh happy days!.

I watch as many races as possible, although if I'm trading and races are flowing fast I tend to just switch the TV off.

I spend a lot of time replaying races after they have been run,but that is not for me a ritual as mentioned above, but rather a part of the job, although i have every confidence in raceforms race readers, you can occasionally spot something of future use which they have not mentioned, one of the things i do in a race of interest is to replay it several times each time concentrating on just one horse all the way though this can sometimes be very revealing.

I pay no interest to other racereaders apart from myself, unless I'm looking to trade pre-race and get out in-running with a held up horse, then I'll have a sneak look.

I used to dance naked around the betting slips, but the neighbours complained so I now do it indoors......
