    Daily waffle 3rd May

Bank holidays have a habit of making me very nervous. The systems I follow have thrown up a LOT of lay qualifiers and very few backs. I am preparing myself for the worst I must admit.

An imbalance of backs and lays like this can lead to a steady accumulation of profits from the lays with little lost on the backs or the lays can really hit you hard and you can have plenty of winners and lose a massive wedge. It's the latter possibility that always worries me. Not that there is anything I can do about it. That's system betting for you really.

Just got to cross my fingers and hope!

Yes matt as a method backer i always have mixed feelings concerning bank holiday racing, over the years they have prouduced some of my best and also worst days.Of course it is down to more racing, and if the opportunities are there they have to be taken.

Although i do not have figs to substantiate i often feel that the bookmakers give themselves much bigger margins on the bank holidays.

It doesn't feel like a bank holiday to me- Ive just finished work and also have the same number of qualifiers that I would expect on a normal day.

I had a very good record on Bank Holidays until Easter Monday just gone.

Fingers crossed for today! Good luck all.

That wasn't my first lay of the day and I was doing alright till that point but Whipma Whopma Gate has started something as I have just layed winner after winner. Still plenty of racing to go but I am already deep in a hole :(

not a bad day for me,

32 lays and 12 backs give me £3.13 down on the day

could have been a lot worse....

It was a lot worse for me, but so far still slightly in profit for May, although just by a few pennies!

I got hammered this afternoon but in some respects it feels as though I got away lightly. Midway through the afternoon I was facing a loss three or four times what I actually ended with. Funny how a three-figure losing day can sometimes feel like a minor victory isn't it?

Today pushes me in to the red for the month but it's obviously still very early days.

    W2W Systems: 0 from 2, down 2pts
    W2W Lays: 18 from 21, down 5.05pts
    Other: 34 from 48, down 14.55pts

A pretty good day for me thanks to a couple of winners at nice prices late in the afternoon. The lays went quite well too.

    W2W backs, 1/3, +3.7pts
    W2W lays, 13/14, +6.7pts
    Others, 1/4, +4.41pts
