    Nooooooooooooooooo

My main PC went kaput just before racing started ....

After spending the afternoon trying to sort it out instead of racing/Sun .... either the motherboard or CPU have gone

I wasn't going to upgrade to a 6 Core till the end of the year but had to do it now.... which due to the updates in technology meant I also had to buy memory and 2 graphics cards even though the ones I have still work .... so in all it's cost £450 .... although when you think I once paid £350 for a Quadcore it looks cheap.

I hope everything turns up in the morning, but you can bet it'll be mid-afternoon :splapme

You could always nip down PC World and pick up one of their new fangled 486 DX2/66's with a huge 8Mb RAM and a 500Mb hard drive. Only £1200! You can run Doom on it!

My keyboard's running out of ink....

Right, back up and running again apart from a small niggle, Vista only shows me 4 cores not 6 even though all 6 are in the Harware Monitor ... changed 'Detect Hal' in Msconfig but still only finds 4 even though it knows it has 6

Windows Vista probably can't count to 6.

You don't fancy the upgrade to Windows 7 then?

Windows 7 is "amazing" and Windows Vista "is crap" according to thousands upon thousands of people. So clearly the front end GUI makes a heck of a lot of difference. It's more of a change than you think...

You've asked all these people? :splapme ... I've used W7.... not that much difference apart from noticable boot/shutdown speeds and a few other twiddly bits, but it still handles the basic OS we use 99% of the time the same way. :D
