Lay selections in running on betfair

I have been testing one of my system selections on betfair with good results. I place my selections to win two minutes before the off and then place a lay bet for the same stake in running to half the betfair price I obtained, for a free win bet. If the horse runs well it will get matched. About 2/3rds of the time they do and if the horse loses you get your stake back. The drawback is, if the horse goes on to win your winnings are only half the odds. Because I get my stake back the losing runs are very small and I am more confident to place a bigger stake than usual which compensates for the shorter odds I get when the horse wins. It really helps during normal losing runs. Shorter odds selections tend to get matched more often than longer odds.
Does any one use this type of staking, because any feedback will help

I have often thought of doing something similar but I havn't yet knucked down to do any trial or numbercrunching, It has very good potential but I think that it would take a lot of research to fully polish it into a system, at the monent I am concentration on my current projects that are not going great at the moment and so I don't have the cash to put into other ideas, so refining those ideas doesnt happen unless I feel I would have the cash there to back it up. But good luck to you on this but make sure the stats are sound before sticking your money on it

    Hi BM.
So far so good to small stakes. The great thing I really really like are the short losing runs.

I'm just researching a new in-running technique now, been through over 1000 excel sheets of data, and so far it's showing a profit and only takes a about 10 seconds.... I ain't telling anyone what it is though .... plenty of ways of making money trading ... ask yourself why £10,000's go in the market in the last 100 yards of a race? :wink
