I was going to mention this last night but forgot..... It's weird that they say searches have speeded up by a few seconds on average, especially as it keeps brining up new search results for each letter you type.
The only way they can do that is alreay have the results logged for each phrase.... which does seem to be the case as if you type in crap it goes back to 'norma' search speeds.

I have no idea what you're talking about
Go to http://www.google.co.uk/ and put a search in,you'll see after the first letter. It predicts what you are looking for.
Type in FUC and you get a blank page

Hasn't it done that for ages? I'm sure I have seen that before on search engines. I use a browser with an inbuilt search facility and I'm sure that works like that
The drop-down phrases have been around for 2 years, but it updates the search results now as you type

Check this out Mat. Yes you are right it did predict but but only with words, not actual results without pressing enter.
I don't see the point. Of all the things in this world that could do with speeding up that wasn't one of them, in my eyes. So what if it took a few seconds to come back with results before and I had to press Enter for it to do so. I don't care. What's more important is that they are relevant and I don't have to go through a few pages to find the link I want. Google has always been hot on relevance though. This is just a neat trick, but an unnecessary one if you ask me. It won't change the way I do anything.
It's not working for me.

It seems you have to be logged in for it to work. I can do without I think.
