A little quote from Steve Mason in this week's Weekender - talking about Zarkandar, he says:

'Long-term it would be no surprise to see Z(139)(hehehe, oh! that's me) emerge as the best of the current crop. I'm struggling to name any juvenile in the past 15 years who has bettered that figure first time up over hurdles.'

You'd think on Gold Cup day that my top rated horse of the meet would be running in that race but no, it's in the Triumph - top two in fact & Hey! 365 are 18/s about Molotov for the first 4, it must be Xmas!

    If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts;
but if he be content to begin with doubts, he shall end in certainties.

    JCB Triumph Hurdle (Grade 1)

I like the look of 3 horses in this race Grandouet, Unaccompanied & Zarkandar, and I'll dutch these, although I won't be going in big or anything in this race.

Happy enough with that. Zarkandar touched 85 in running there.

I like Mossley in this but Geraghty obviously prefers Bobs Worth. I'll back both.

I wasn't paying enough attention and just missed system bet Silly Billy who won at 6/4.

Fastest race of the Festival so far that Zarkandar - next year's Champion -

I got me a decent bet on - I took 12/s in a double with Havant 10/s in the 1,000 Guineas a couple of weeks back.

totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1)

I can't see the winner coming out of the top 4 in the betting Imperial Commander, Long Run, Kauto Star & Denman. I'll probably dutch all these but have only 50% stakes on the Nicholls horses as they don't appear to be as good as they have been in the past.

Have Kauto Star antepost at 11.5. Hope he wins but I don't think he will to be honest. I'll be looking to dutch Kempes, Imperial Commander and Long Run also. Midnght Chase is interesting too at a bigger price. Loves the course, might run into a place.

My FAVOURITE race of the Festival. Not so much as a betting race, but it's great to watch.

Great race. I doubted Long Run's chances to be honest but backed him to cover my other bets just in case. How dominant could he be over the next 3-4 years?

That was a classic Gold Cup, again...

Got a bit of a dark horse in the Foxhunters -

    Templer - ew/of course

in the last, I'm going to play my top 4 in FC's, that's, Mister Stickler, Shoreacres, Oh Chrick & Pigeon Island

but a bit concerned about Anquetta now that the pressure is off for Henderson!

You beat me. I made €2.58 on that.

I was going to skip the next race but have decided to go with the favourite, Sir Des Champs.
