    Cost of Flights

I was planning to go the Philippines in May, and could have booked 2 months ago for £450. For various reasons I decided I couldn't go. I'm now looking at July and the price with the same airline, KLM, is £804 .... If I left it till the school holidays it's £1100

If prices go up during the school holidays due to demand as they say, who the takes the kids on holiday to Manila? .... Especially as only around 5000 brits entered the Phil last year. Demand price rises my

I then thought I'd do a comparison. Las Vegas to Manila is about the same distance as MAN>MNL, so I checked the price.... it works out about £800 ..... we're supposed to have higher landing fees and taxes in this country so how come it's the same flying from the US? Price fixing?

Probably. The taxes on flights are just criminal these days though. They far exceed the cost of the actual 'ticket'.

Have you tried booking a budget flight to another country then flying to Manila from there or flying to another city in Asia and then using a budget flight ??

    Would that work

I've looked into that, but the problem is with luggage allowance then, flying budget you don't get much if any, and you usually have to collect your luggage and check in again.

Yesterday the flight I looked at in July>Aug was £762 Thur>Thur.... that was £820 today!!!! Only 2 lots across the 2 months were under £800, all the others were over £900 today wiht most over £1000, and Sat>Sat showing as £2000+

So as the prices are going up daily by the looks of it I had to book, and got Tue>Tue for 3 weeks for £780.

I could have gone Etihad for £662, but it's a 20hr flight, KLM is the quickest at 15hr, and goes from Liverpool :)

But can't land due to the wheels being nicked
