CORAL WAVE (37/111) set an ordinary pace then picked up really well to get all her rivals in trouble when winning the Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes at the Curragh. When I adjust her rating to take account of the sectional times it indicates this was a Group 1 class performance.

Clearly Coral Wave improved a good deal for the switch to soft ground in this race. She's much better on this sort of surface according to trainer Paddy Prendergast. If she gets her ground in the Weld Park Stakes next time she should be able to follow up this win.

Good but she only ran to the same mark of 114 that I gave her last time - today she was upstaged by David Livingston [who should have been listed above but his figure achieved in defeat?] who improved from 119 behind Power last time in the National Stakes to a new 2yo best of the season so far, even above Lyric Of Light's 129 t'other day to 131....

I got some editing to do up top....

I rated up that meeting at Cologne on Sunday & was quite impressed with - 115+? Black Arrow (Ire) Wohler A(Ger) - XoM with Campanologist & M Prescott 3yo [105+] on card. FTO? 8s Listed Col(Ger) Sep 11 - and have added him to list above, I see the RP have given him a 105, me thinks he's better than that?

    Group 2 perhaps?

Well, I'm glad the flat season is over, as the last two meetings at Leopardstown have put me off it altogether. The only thing worse than being proved wrong is realising that those figures could be more accurate than I thought (which, looking at the Going Allowance used, I don't see how they can) which makes, imho, the whole game farcical. I really don't see how a Gr3 race, if as it says in the 'in-running comments' was 'run at a strong pace' comes out with a 54 ? ? ?

Was beginning to think I had over-done it a bit with that 129 about Lyric Of Light until Samitar's win in the Irish Guineas gave the form a boost & could be getting another tomorrow, what with 6th placed Devotion being 3rd top rated on my figs in the Oaks [40/1 available] & Richard Hughes looking a bit of a significant jockey booking & later in the Listed race Fallen For You a clear top rated after finishing 5th in the same race.
