Indeed. I'm not a keep 'em in the kitchen type of bloke, which is what certain MPs and others would try and portray you as if you have the temerity to disagree with them, but if you want equality you've got to take the rough with the smooth.
On a related matter, the statistics which 'prove' women earn much less than men over their working lives are open to question, to say the least. Far more women work part-time and many just aren't interested in potentially well-paid professions such as IT, construction, and engineering despite endless initiatives to persuade them into these sectors.
Yes Keith, I am amazed at the lack of view in the media that if woman want equal rights they must accept that they must retire at the same age as men.
I am not sure this is about equal rights, it is about a small number (330,000) of women in their late 50's who will be asked to work 2 years longer and will be unduly penalised when the system is changed. This is not the fault of the women but the govt who have moved it forward 2 years. I'm sure something can be done, it is Tory Mps who are not particularly happy about it as well.
So at some point, unless we wait 37 years for them to work through the system, women are going to get penalised ... so may as well do it now and move on. They've been penalised by Labour for 13 years with higher taxes and limited pension rises.
