    is it evil

    my father in law has 2nd stage dementia, 1st stage altziemas and inoprable prostate cancer he is 88 years old, he cant remember his wifes name is it evil to hope he hurries up and shufflies of this mortal coil , my wife is completely split from working and looking after her father/mother, her mother can't cope with his demands and my wife is spending every spare minute with them, iknow its selfish but i want my life back.

    I have an impressive bank of knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, I've lost the combination to this bank.

    It's not being selfish. Your poor father-in-law seems to have already left this world, but his body is clinging onto the last part of his 'spirit'.

    Both my nans died aged over 90, one had dementia the other her full marbles but both were ill and wanted to 'move on' to the next plane of existence, so I'd be pretty sure if the father-in-law understood what was wrong with him he'd feel the same way, and want to move on for his own comfort, not because he would think he's a pain to others.

    Its all about the emotional ability of those around the affected, to cope with the living ghost and the final goodbye. It's not evil to want your life back however actually killing off the aged and mentally hopeless is frowned upon, as there are too many 'grey' areas that go with such ideas. My Mother was one such a ghost. It still hurt when it came to the final goodbye. To this day I question my behavour in this matter.
