Heard this horse is well handicapped and as been working well.I am on at just over 3/1 on the exchanges. Have also had word for figaro at Doncaster but the ground is concern.

Or, outstayed by a Motivator - he probably came off a true line as this stiff 8 gd/st was stretching his stamina. His sire stats improve markedly on gd/fm. Improved 7lb today in defeat.

"SO BEAUTIFUL and HIPPOLYTE fall within both form and pedigree trends for the race.

Anyway the Prix Paul de Moussac, formerly the Prix de la Jonchere, offers some Group 3 action over a mile. Some decent horses line up for this one including the Brian Meehan trained colt ARCHBISHOP, last seen when running 2nd. over a mile at Newmarket on 5 May in a £12K handicap (good-to-soft). Evidently form such as this is a mystery to the French racing paper, Paris-Turf, because they weren’t able to offer readers a tissue price.

I like HIPPOLYTE. His form figures 12121 look eye-catchingly progressive. His most recent victory came in a Listed race, the Prix de Pontarme, over course, distance and going. He won by 1¼ lengths. His dosage profile expresses ‘dominant classicity’, so he is quite likely to exceed his bare figures. I know absolutely nothing about T. Clout, his trainer, or Flavian Prat, his jockey (except that many Little Brits will find their names hilarious, I suppose). The Pedigree Trends computer rates HIPPOLYTE top and auto-shortlists him too. At around 4/1 he represents my idea of value.

For those of you looking for an each-way alternative the computer also auto-shortlists SO BEAUTIFUL. This colt has won twice, once in a maiden on the all-weather and most recently on 5 May on very soft ground over a mile at St. Cloud in a 14K conditions race. The polytrack surface usually approximates to good ground, so he may improve again for the quicker conditions today. His dosage profile too expresses ‘dominant classicity’ and of those horses falling within the race trend he has the highest DI, which is to say he may finish quickly. He is ridden by Thierry Jarnet, a jockey who I have at least heard of, and trained by Mademoiselle S-V Tarrou about whom I regret to say I know nothing at all. At around 10/1 however there would be room for a gagnant-placant (each-way). Try Unibet if the UK and Irish bookies don’t offer odds.

Archbishop has around a stone to find on my figs which run pretty much in accordance with matey here's selection on his beating of a now 116 rated, Albion, last year & being an only CD at this specialist track, Hippolyte willl do for me too.

H'mm, there was no way that was soft ground? Races aren't run 5.70s faster than standard on soft ground unless the race distance is wrong? If it was soft ground & race distance was as advertised then the first two including Archbishop (who set fast pace trying to make all) are Gr1 class!

There's no way he's going to be well h'capped after this - he's Group class, easy...

It's a shame there were no other races run on the turf course as nothing to compare with & also a shame we didn't get a proper going description as I would have made Archbishop an EW choice, he found the missing stone easily & will be a force over a mile on decent ground & I reckon Nick Mordin will be saying he should be packed off to America.

He has an official rating of 93 but just got a 118 from me & if it was soft that comes with a BIG 'P' - it'll be interesting what the assessor makes of it, he got 113 from the Racing Post Ratings
