How about they give him back and Chelsea give back Torres and they can all save face?

Off topic, but Matt, what's with Pompey's second points deduction from the same insolvency procedure.

I know from the Leeds thing a few years ago there was a debacle about Leeds trying to get the 10 points deduucted from the Championship when they had already been relegated, but Pompey weren't when they went into Admin.

So why now are they being handed a second deduction?

This is from the BBC site Vegy:

On top of starting the new season on -10 points, Pompey's prospective new owners must agree that only a limited proportion of the secured debt can be carried forward into the new company.

Following nine and 10-point deductions respectively

They must also agree to pay all football creditors in full, unless an alternative agreement is reached.
And they must agree to restrictions on playing budgets, future borrowing and loan repayments for the next five seasons.
In a statement the Football League said the conditions of membership offered to Portsmouth "seek to ensure the sporting integrity of league football and the financial viability of the club going forward".

Which seems to have pretty much put off the prospective new owners (who just happens to be the man owed most of the money)

I read that but couldn't understand why they are being punished twice.

I've never agreed with the deduction of points when a team is taken over, as the new owners as well as the players, fans, etc are getting screwed for something they never had anything to do with. A fairer way would be to not take points off but change the rules so that for that season no matter where they finish in the league they can't be promoted. So they may finish top, but have to stay in the league for another year.

That's something I've said too Keith, I completely agree. That is a much fairer punishment rather than giving teams a 10pt deduction and having them struggling to avoid getting relegated again compounding the problem not to mention putting off prospective new owners.
