    The Bloody Weather

My pine tree keeps moving to a 45 degree angle

The local weather station is showing 60mph winds, but I think the gusts on my mountain are stronger.

It's quite entertaining watching the sheep fly past the window though

More winds due Friday, so I need to get some support on one of my trees. If it falls over, all the dead guinea pigs buried under it will rise to the surface

You got problems then? I have two 60ft trees about 40ft from my house and the winds here in Hereford are just as bad. Didn't sleep too well last night!!!

I spent a couple of hours yesterday cutting the tree in half, and supporting it. The good news is it won't blow over with the next attack, the bad news is that I now have 1/2 a tree lying across my garden which needs cutting up.

I was hoping my wife would have bought me a chainsaw for Valentines Day

At least the horse racing has been buggered up that much by the weather, but I'm sure it is screwing up a lot of trainers trying to get the horses fit.

Someone actually asked me today: 'When is this weather going to stop?'

    But at last ? ?

"However, finally, there looks to be some light at the end of the tunnel, in what has been an exceptional spell of extreme weather.

    Weakening jet stream
lighthouse wave g wp 300x199 Weakening jet stream means a less stormy outlookThroughout this winter, the jet stream has been 30 per cent stronger than average, according to the Met Office.

The stronger jet stream has been driven by a bigger than normal temperature contrast off the east coast of Canada. This has super-charged it and turned it into a storm-making machine.

Next week, the jet stream is set to weaken notably to a speed of around 130mph – in stark contrast to the 200mph or so we’ve seen this winter.

    Less stormy next week
A weakening jet stream will lead to the frequency and intensity of low pressure systems decreasing next week, giving weather that is nowhere near as severe as what we’ve experienced in recent weeks.

Whilst it won’t be completely dry, rainfall won’t tend to be as intense, with lesser amounts falling when it does rain. This will give the chance for water levels in rivers and on the Somerset Levels to go down.

The winds will also come down a notch, with the severe gales much less likely.

The jet stream should start shifting soon, and good riddance to it.

Time to start thinking about a holiday for after the Grand National. Somewhere hot and sunny.... Rhyl
