Top 3 Boxing Movies You Need To See

If your into boxing you probably watch more than than the friday night fights and pay per view? There is a whole other world out there which involves movies. There has been a number of great boxing movies, and nothing of late, so I just want to reminisce right now.

Here are some of my top picks:

Rocky Movies

If you haven’t seen any Rocky movies, where have you been? This is certainly one of the most well known movie franchises there is, especially where fiction is concerned anyway. A famous line in the movie being “Adrian!”, If you don’t know what I’m talking about then just watch the movie! lol.

The star of the show is Sylvester Stallone. The Rocky movie part 5 has even featured a real boxer (Tommy Morrison), who recently passed away (January 2, 1969 – September 1, 2013)

Cinderella Man (2005)

Cinderella Man was set in the 1930′s and stars Russell Crowe as a James Braddock, who was a successful boxer in his day at his boxing weight classes. He goes through hard times losing everything, left only with his wife and kids to support him.

Mae Braddock his wife is played by Renee Zellweger. Fortunately James is offered another chance by a former manager Joe Gould. This is a story about hope for the ordinary man, which is why it proved so popular.

Ali (2001)

Ali is biographical film about the great Muhammad Ali, any film with his name is always going to be a winner! But to top things off it’s played by non other that the “fresh prince”, Will Smith himself.

Ali is a boxings icon for obvious reasons. This movie takes us back to between the years of 1964 and 1974. This is a time that Ali held the heavy weight title, after beating Sonny Liston. The film tells the story of Ali’s conversion to Islam, the George “Foreman rumble in the jungle” and other intriguing insights.
