This was staying on at the finish the other day at york i think in a very good handicap it runs tommorrow so must hold reasonable each way claims.

Well done Kered.
I knew I had seen this somewhere, couldn't find it this morning so I stuck 50p each way on it as it was nice odds.

kered
25th August 2003, 17:39
Sam you would have lost as there were less than 8 runners but it wasnt beaten far so should be placed next time out.

Quito is another horse I've kept in my notebook. First it was because of the name, so I backed it and it won at 14/1. Ever since I've been tracking its progress! Well reminded codford. :wink

John
3rd September 2003, 11:09
Doesn't seem to have much chance against that sort of opposition but it might be worth a tiny place bet on betfair. I think C Grade is Quito's peak; B Grade looks too high for him. Culhane's a good jock though.

John
3rd September 2003, 21:54
Ran a great race, just missed out on the places - 4th. An improver to say the least. :)

John
10th September 2003, 17:53
4th today @ 50/1 SP (22 ran so paying to 4 places).

Had anyone posted a reminder, we'd have all been rich! :mover

That was a tough race and I admit to thinking it had no chance at all - how wrong.... ::swear

John
10th September 2003, 17:56
From now on, I'm going to back it for a place until it comes unplaced, regardless of its price. :mover

kered
10th September 2003, 22:51
Sorry i didnt back it either though only did my most confident bets along with a very risky 7/1 shot Sky Galaxy, with hidnsight i should have bet on every race today than id have made a profit.

John

TheOldhamWhisper
20th September 2003, 12:11
Thanks for bringing this to the top Tang - looks a decent proposition at the price. I'll be dutching Quito (Drawn 10), Corridor Creeper (2) and Orientor (20) - not getting beaten by the draw!!!

Small EW on all of them.

kered
20th September 2003, 13:00

John
20th September 2003, 20:48
Assuming?!!!! It's proven over a long long time. :) Quito is superb, and if horses have confidence, that win in such a big race will have given it a major boost. :spinning

He finished 4th, but I don't know how many runners there were or if the race was a handicap or not. What were the place prices?

Thierry Henry
10th December 2003, 09:25
He was the favourite. You could get him for 2.2 to place, but he went down to 1.7 just before the off.

Four places in the race as it was a handicap :)

bigcumba

Thought I might put some stats together for Quito in the same way I did for Paddywack - hope some of you find this useful!

He's had 65 runs since Summer 2002 - 11 wins for a SR of 17% If you had backed him every time you would be 29.5pts in profit to SP, and a fair bit more at Betfair odds as the prices range from 7/4 to 20/1.

Let's break these down to see if we can rule out some races he has little or no chance of winning....maybe useful for laying!

Flat turf - 6 wins frm 43 = 14% for 20.25pts profit.

Flat AW - 5 wins from 22 = 23% for 9.25pts profit.

Now to break down the stats a bit more -

Going - He has only ever won on Good to Firm, Good, Good to Soft and Standard AW - 9 losing races outwith these. - breaking it down further - GTF 2 from 17, Gd 3 from 15, GTS 1 from 5, Std 5 from 19. Losers - Firm 0 from 1, Soft 0 from 4, Heavy 0 from 1, AW Slow 0 from 3

Class - All wins have been class B through to F, 6 losing races at Listed and above. Breaking it down - F - 1 from 3, E - 2 from 11, D - 3 from 9, C - 3 from 21, B - 2 from 15. Losers - Listed 0 from 2, Gp3 0 from 3, Gp1 0 from 1.

Distance - he has only ever won at 6 or 7 furlongs. 15 losing races at 5 or 8 furlongs. - breaking it down further - 6f - 8 from 28, 7f - 3 from 22. Losers - 5f - 0 from 6, 8f - 0 from 5.

Size of field - 9 of his wins were in fields of 8 to 14 runners, no wins in 2 races of 5 to 7, and one each in 15 to 18, and 19+

Courses - he has run at 19 different courses - but only won at Ayr (1 from 3), Haydock (1 from 5), Musselburgh (1 from 1), Newcastle (1 from 2), Southwell ( 1 from 9), Thirsk (1 from 4), Wolves (4 from 9), York (1 from 4)

Losing courses were - Ascot (1 run), Beverley (4), Catterick (1), Doncaster (6), Hamilton (1), Lingfield (5), Newbury (2), Newmarket (1), Pontefract (2), Ripon (3), Warwick (1)

In summary it looks like he's worth backing in any 6 or 7f race at GTF through to GTS and Standard going, at no higher than class B. Lay him at 5 or 8f, and at listed class or higher.

Maybe not enough stats on some courses to be certain of their significance, but we've enough to give us an idea of when he's more (or less) likely to win.... :)

John
27th October 2004, 00:11
Excellent post Campbell, although we have to remember that the past isn't an exact guide for the future - that's life I'm afraid, but this does make things a lot clearer from a punter's perspective. I'm not sure what first attracted me to backing Quito - I think it was the name, and at the time he was winning a lot of races. Nice horse. :)

tangdynasty
27th October 2004, 11:07
[QUOTE=tangdynasty]did u guys notice that quito only won in big price & this horse rarely win twice in a row :wink

Workshy
27th October 2004, 16:35
Wins only in handicaps & conditions races so we can discount Group/Listed events etc.

Personally, I think his next run wont be 'the one' as its a mile listed race. After that, start looking for him in a 6/7f conditions/handicap race. :)

John
30th October 2004, 05:06
Saturday Reminder (thanks Phil originally)

John
21st November 2004, 04:21
I doubt this is the last time I'll say this. But this horse seems to win every time I choose to ignore it/lay it, and lose every time I pay an interest and back it. Sod's Law dictates this happening once or twice, but not every time I remember it runs!

Campbell I'm thinking of compiling a spreadsheet for this horse based on the stats you put up, unless you have done this already... please let me know if you think it's worthwhile.

Will be done next Monday at the earliest if yes. Cheers :)

If that had won I'd never have looked at RSB ever again. Had a rather large liability laying it!

e55exboi
20th January 2005, 17:38
How do u find a laying system on RSB? Do u just find the worst possibly backing system u can and just lay the qualifiers?

Onlyforfun
20th January 2005, 18:10
Exactly! I also use the bare ratings + RD price ratings, coupled with the exchange prices to point up good lay/back opportunities. Costs £11/day for the info after noon, but well worth it. -30% ROI equates to roughly +5% ROI on liabilities.

e55exboi
20th January 2005, 22:00
So wot sort of strike rate can you go for and how much minus LSP before itl work laying? If its say 20% SR and -45 LSP would it work laying?

mathare
20th January 2005, 22:20

Dont u remember our PMing about that? Ive downloaded open office and it takes hours trying to open the NH spreadsheets, it doesnt open them infact. Plus cant figure out how to copy and paste a whole load of qualifiers, certainly not typing each one in indvidually, be quicker on paper

Onlyforfun
20th January 2005, 23:05
It depends on the odds aswell, its easy to get systems with HUGE negative ROI% but you can't lay 33/1 shots at 33/1 on Betfair.

The major concern lowe1 would be the return to Handicaps. Has done well of late in Listed non-handicaps. Last H'cap win was a year ago at this course, but over 6f (7f today). Was rated 103 that day, 109 here, could be hammered by the weight.

Good Luck!

in total silax.
not sure but i reckon i have layed it about 6 or 7 times. and it has won 4 or 5 and lost twice. once being a falsie aswell as a pro lay.

so it's not one of my faves either.

bugger - missed presto shinko.

that was going to be one of my 'merlin comp' pick's, but i was in a bit of a rush and only looked at that race after i posted.

now 'presto shinko' - that's one of my fav's, i have only put 3 bet's on in the bookies, presto shinko was one of them, and it won @ 20/1 SP

Lads you should read this thread from the start...it really is an interesting read. Pretty amazing how many times this horse has run and how consistant he is. And that it was kered who brought him to our attention. :laugh
