View Full Version : Ryder Cup Mystery

Hi guys calling all amateur (or Pro for that matter) odds compilers.

I'm one of the happy gang that took 3.05 on Betdaq for Europe to win the Ryder Cup about 4 days ago, went back yesterday after the wonderful 2nd day results, and layed Eur. to a smaller stake @ 1.11. Thankfully therefore I'm in an any way win situation. Whilst on the site however, (and I checked later Betfair is the same) I noticed that the USA are a shorter price than the draw. Currently 16.0 USA & 19.0 Draw. Now why should that be?

Anything other than a European victory is pretty unlikely of course, but if the USA were to stage an incredible comeback, isn't it easier to get to 14 points rather than 14+?

There's obviously a really easy answer to this but I'm blowed if I can see it.

Ideas or definitive answers welcome

i know nothing about golf, but would the draw would only be possible with one combination of results whilst an american victory could be possible with more than one combination of results?

I'd agree with TH, seems the sensible answer but I'm not sure.

Hmmm. Possible I suppose. USA win with 14.5 points or more. So the difference could reflect the fact that to be a draw only 1 specific score will do - 14 points each. Thanks guys that has to be it I think, unless anyone else has a view?

With the US making a great start to the singles it looks as though Europe could be worth laying at 1.2. That price seems too low to me

OK, it was a great comeback by the Europeans. The first four or five singles matches looked as though they were going the way of the USA a few hours back

:D Ouch! That's gotta hurt! The biggest European win ever and on American soil too! Would love to read the US press today - 2 weeks ago they were calling us a 'rag, tag & bobtail' team - Oh Yeah?!! :butthead:

But we all know a team at the bottom of the league can sometimes upset a team at the top.

That quote was brought to you courtesy of Martin Ling. :) :) :)

Sorry Vegy ;)

It's a marathon not a sprint mate. I didn't go to the game, still beating myself up at rugby, apparently they were the only 2 shots you had. Ooo

That does make it sweeter, can't see it lasting. :( Hope we spend some of the funds in January though. :)
