Bob Marley - Legend

Name an album whereby EVERY track is of top order.

I think there is only 1 other for me. Will post once I get some replies :D

Can't argue with the choice Worky, although I would add, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby in my opinion also do not have a single dodgy track, but I am biased. :)

Not a big U2 fan I must say.

A modern classic for me, an album I can listen to over and over again.

Scissor Sisters

It's an age thing Mat. I saw them and Simple Minds in Rock City, Nottingham in 1981 before most folk had even heard of them, absolutely effin brilliant.

Led Zeppelin 4

Pink Floyd - both Dark Side Of The Moon, and Wish You Were Here

Deep Purple - Made In Japan (double live album 1972)

Hawkwind - Space Ritual (double live 1973)

Thin Lizzy - Live And Dangerous - recently voted the best live album ever by readers of Classic Rock magazine

AC/DC - Highway To Hell

there will be more later from me as well :)

They just come across as pretentious in my eyes. I can listen to their stuff if it is on the radio but I wouldn't buy a U2 album

I saw them a wee bit later - Unforgettable Fire tour at the Barrowlands in Glasgow with the Waterboys as support - classic gig!

Bob Marley - Don't Rock The Boat is one track that would ideally be on the album, 14 tracks of classics cant be sniffed at though. Waiting In Vain likely my favourite, very hard to seperate them all.

Yep, got to agree with that as well BigC. :)

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon my Dads favourite, very much an album I grew up too. It's not my taste but I can recognise why people like it like they do.

I also saw them at Wembley in 1987 (I think)
With Spear of Destiny, Pogues and Lou Reed, now that was some gig. :D

Lou Reed - ah there's another one - Transformer - classic abum! Saw him a couple of times as well - once solo, and once when the Velvets reformed a few years back - both gigs were fantastic.

Another one - and another live album - Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense

Blondie - Parallel Lines

Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love

Slade - Wall Of Hits

I did Presto, intro to "Insane In The Membrane" :D Very much an album I listened to loads when I was a teenager. A good album with a fair amount of good tracks but not a classic.

My 2nd classic is "Notorious BIG - Life After Death". 2 cd's of back to back classics. Wont be a popular (or experienced album I'd suspect in most cases) but I rate it.

Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite For Destruction. It's probably the only album I have where I like every track.

I'm still getting into the rap scene.

I was reluctant to listen to much rap at first, didn't like it. I love the old Beatie Boys stuff and Bloodhound Gang, the sort of rockier side of rap if you like. Then I got into Eminem and from there I am slowly creeping my way through the genre

Its definately not for everyone and like all "genres" it has its fair share of crap.

Try:

Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
Nas - It Was Written
LL Cool J - Mr Smith

and more recently Kanye West - College Dropout

for albums you might get on with.

The Kanye West cd is stunning - this is generally music that the appeal of flies completely over my head - I reckon this must be a good start for a newbie if I can get it

Rap - no real classics, but yes Black Sunday is very good, always liked Cypress Hill! Beasties are great as well, Ill Communication is excellent. One I like is the only (I think) album by the Lordz Of Brooklynn - well worth checking out if you like that sort of thing.

Saw Cypress Hill a couple of times back in Scotland - always great fun! Hits from the bong.... inhale.... exhale..... :D

AC/DC - Back In Black - yep another classic.... :D

How about these -

Genesis - Foxtrot

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood

Motorhead - Ace Of Spades (of course!)

Beatles - Abbey Road

It certainly sets a high standard, he's a very clever man so the album is more than just music. Likely to be the most in demand producer in 2005, plus he can rap quality :D

Classic REAL hip hop like Cyprus Hill and Wu Tang Clan, but todays hip hop is totally overcrowded and made into something totally different!

Have A Cigar is my fave Pink Floyd job! (Not an album but nevermind)...which reminds me Nevermind by Nirvana, every track a classic. As is In Utero

True Lowe, ELO were brilliant in the 70's, Out Of The Blue was a classic, but all the stuff from the early Roy Wood years on to OOTB is all great, pity about the Discovery album onwards though.... a lot of that wasn't so good.

Some of the songs may need a lot of listening but over the years they tend to grow on you, some of the tracks are excellant, some are just good.

I'll throw my dubious choices into the pot:

Beatles - Revolver
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust
The Clash - London Calling
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
Ian Dury and the Blockheads - New Boots And Panties
Paul Simon - Graceland
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Leh'-nerd Skin-'nerd
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Next

Some classic tracks buried amongst that lot - in fact, there's hardly any bad ones.

I think the point Workshy was trying to make at the beginning was to only list the albums you think are extra extra special. Everyone has 'great albums' but then there are a few that go way, way beyond that.

It doesn't look as though everyone has blindly stuck to this, but still, some great albums mentioned. :)
