1. I had a feeling that you being a horror film buff, I was going to have problems with this one.
Are you sure 'Tower Of London' was classified as a horror film and not a sci-fi?
My answer source suggests he didn't move into the horror genre 'til the '50's.

I have Tower of London in my Aurum Encyclopedia of the Horror Film plus a couple of other books as a horror movie... Just checked the IMDB and they have it as horror / drama... I know the film you'll have - it'll be House of Wax from 1953 (with a young Charles Bronson credited under his real name of Buchinsky playing Igor) OK, I'll take the anorak off now :D

House of Wax is by far the better known one, but Tower of London was strictly speaking the first so I guess that should be the one you put in as the correct answer :)
