We have this every few months and I have looked back through the other recommendations in here but what are the latest thoughts on digital cameras?

I have a Konica 2meg at the minute but want a better one for Las Vegas. The delay between switching on and being able to zoom on my Konica is too long. It takes a few seconds to get warmed up.

I want optical zoom (at least 3x) and would prefer removable batteries (2xAA) same as the one I have now. I'd rather carry spare AAs than have the battery run out on my when I am out for the day.

No real thoughts on the resolution I want. Probably around 4-5meg will be sufficient.

I'd like one that is small enough to fit in my pocket too. The Konica is a bit chunky for that. Oh, and I'd like it to cover the lens when switched off. The Konica doesn't do that either.

One thing I will say for my current camera though is I got it because the viewfinder is linked to the lens, which I really like. I am a traditionalist and still use the view finder to take photos rather than the LCD screen to capture the image. So I would like another with the viewfinder linked to the lens. Anyone know how this is described in the product blurbs so I know what I am looking for?

The new Fuji http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/s5500/?lpage=/digital/cameras/range.php You won't get any better than that for the price, not pocket size though.

I have the S5000 model, and managed to take a picture of Venus & Mercury together at 10X zoom the other week, and you know how far away they are :)

Smaller model; http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/z1/?lpage=/digital/cameras/range.php

Both are around £200-£250. Remeber you get what you PAY for, cheaper models showing big specs will give crap pictures, especially less than £100.
