Not sure if any of these have appeared before but, if it helps, they're in chronological order. They're all well-known films and most should be identifiable from the tag line so NO Googling:

"The most magnificent picture ever!" Gone With The Wind<o:p></o:p>
"Gaiety! Glory! Glamour!" Wizard Of Oz<o:p></o:p>
"he had to find her...he had to find her." The Searchers<o:p></o:p>
"Check in. Relax. Take a shower." Psycho<o:p></o:p>
"...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!" The Birds<o:p></o:p>
"They're young...they're in love...and they kill people." Bonnie & Clyde<o:p></o:p>
"This is the weekend they didn't play golf." Deliverance
"In 1959 a lot of people were killing time. Kit and Holly were killing people." Badlands<o:p></o:p>
"...all it takes is a little Confidence." The Sting<o:p></o:p>
"Don't go in the water." Jaws<o:p></o:p>
"The Night HE Came Home." Halloween<o:p></o:p>

Good Lord...are there any left? :D

I've got most of them on video - quite a few classics in there (and Critters:laugh )

King Kong is one of the all time greatest movies - can't wait to see what Peter Jackson does with it though - should be good. There's a new DVD box set of KK coming out soon - apparently it's been put together brilliantly with previously lost footage, interviews, all sorts of stuff. That's a 2 disc set - a 4 disc set has the sequel (and under-rated) Son Of Kong and the original Mighty Joe Young from 1949 - that's another wee classic movie, made by the same team that did KK. :)

I'd recommend every one of the films on the list here for one reason or another - Critters is just plain daft and funny though!

I thought you'd probably get most of them and yes, Critters is daft but it's a hoot to watch and the tag-line is certainly one of the funniest. I wouldn't be surprised if you've got the missing answers in your video collection too - they're all classics or sufficiently well-known.

I suspect you'll do as well in my follow-up quiz...Movie closing lines!!

19. Weird Science?
10. Confidence?
21. Speed?

One out of three there, FTB

19...This is more of a chick-flick
10...while this is more of a buddy film.

ah...

19. Thelma and Louise
10. Could this be my favourite movie of all time....The STING!

Bonus question for BigC...."More howls than you can shake a shiver at!!!"

Correct on both counts

I'll miss your follow up if it's tonight - give other folk a chance while I'm off boozing over at a mates house...

I'm guessing now -

22 - Chicken Run (and yes I've got the video)
20 - must be the Sting surely?
19 - chick flick - has to be Thelma & Louise going by the chronological order..

should have gettin the sting one straight away!

Bonus question for BigC...."More howls than you can shake a shiver at!!!"

That's from the best Abbott and Costello movie - A & C meet Frankenstein! No matter how much I watch that one I still find it very funny. :D

Perhaps...the trickiest one is probably Q. 3 although it's probably the second most well-known film in the entire list

GlosRFC

Bonus question correct too!

I'll post the closing lines quiz as soon as this one's completed.

4- watched this the other night again - The Searchers

3 - has me stumped, but it must be 1939 onwards.... and no later than 1956 (that narrows it down a bit http://www.win2winracing.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

GlosRFC

The Searchers is right.

And it's definitely 1939 if that helps.

And it's definitely 1939 if that helps.

Ah, in that case it could be the Wizard Of Oz given we're looking at 'big' movies?

GlosRFC
6th August 2005, 16:30
Wizard of Oz is correct but it's a strange tag-line for that film.

I think some clues might be in order for the last two:

6. A thriller masterpiece - these things will do far worse than mess on your car.
8. Features a famous duel and plenty of pig squealing!

bigcumba
6th August 2005, 16:33
Ah, you've done it now - The Birds, and Deliverance. :)

GlosRFC

Well done. I thought 8 was quite easy which I suppose it is when you read the tagline again.

It is actually, I think I overlooked it when I was going through them. ANother great film though!
