'Toughish' General Knowledge & a couple of logic teasers make up the quiz this week....

FACTS :
1. There are 5 houses in 5 different colours.

3. These 5 owners drink a certain beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigarette and keep a certain pet.
4. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigarette or drink the same beverage.

HINTS:
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
5. The green house owner drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the house right in the centre drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Marlboro lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The owner who smokes Silk Cut drinks beer.

THE QUESTION IS....WHO KEEPS FISH?

There is no trick to this - it just needs deductive reasoning and maybe a pen and paper.

ANSWER:
The German keeps the fish.
The Norwegian lives in Yellow House drinks water, smokes Dunhill and keeps cats.
The Dane lives in Blue house, drinks tea, smokes Marlboro and keeps horses.
The Brit lives in Red house, drinks milk, smokes Pall Mall and keeps birds.
The German lives in Green house, drinks coffee, smokes Bensons and keeps fish.
The Swede lives in White house, drinks beer, smokes Silk Cut and keeps dogs.

I didn't read the question to 11 properly and only put 3 popes. I'm not sure of the number of the one before Paul but it was John the Blessed

I worked it out as

House 1 = Yellow = Norweige = Cats = Dunhill = Water
House 2 = Blue = Dane = Horses = Marlboro = Tea
House 3 = Red = Brit = Birds = Pall Mall = Milk
House 4 = Green = German = Fish = Bensons = Coffee
House 5 = White = Swede = Dogs = Silk Cut = Beer

I used to do those books Veggy. Do they still sell them, I can remember many a rainy caravan Holiday in Norfolk was had in my childhood with one of those books.

Looks like I'll have to find an even harder one next week.....
I do these myself before I post them and think...'ooh, that took me a while to solve, I'll use that in my Friday quiz'.....
I think I'm underestimating you all 'cos you're getting the answers far too quickly....either that or I'm more stupid than I thought!!

To be honest, most questions are plucked from other sources.
I can only claim about 20%, if that, to be my own work.
I do tend to modify certain questions......ie, de-Americanise music/song/lyric quizzes.
I deserve little or no credit for the originality of the quizzes I post.
