Tonight on more 4 they are repeating Alan Bleasdales 90's political thriller GBH. To my knowledge this has not been repeated before and it is a great watch with Michael Palin, Robert Lindsay and Lindsey Duncan staring.

Reallly looking forward to watching this again.

I thought it wqas a film and was sorely disappointed that it will continue next Saturday, by which time I'll have forgottenabout it :mad:

It is a series veg. There is quite a few episodes. It has quite an intricate plot and gets beeter as it goes on.

The first episode is just scene-setting really but everything in it is relevant to the plot, especially the flashbacks. It is more than just a story about a strike, thats just introducing the characters. I think if you keep watching it you will enjoy it.

I remember when it was first shown and it was said by many people it was based on Derek Hatton. I know people moan about Blair and Co. but at least the like of Hatton are no longer in politics.

GBH is superb, no less than you'd have expected from Alan Bleasdale - brilliant writer!

Another of Bleasdale's they should show again was the rather controversial 'The Monocled Mutineer'. Great review of it here - plus the story of all the behind the scenes shenanigans the Tories got up to over the it... lest ye forget... :)

yeah the monocled mutineer is brilliant. As was Boys from the blackstuff. The thing with Bleasedale is you get drama that means something and often very good humour too. Everyone I have ever watched that has been written from him has been crafted skilfuly and also casted so well too. If I remember right he also wrote Scully a comedy drama about a Liverpool mad teenager,

yeah that was brilliant especially as he is suffering badly during a stay at his hotel which also just happens to be hosting a DR. Who convention that night. Then there is also Michael Palins sleepwalking antics. I really love this series I cant believe its took them so long to repeat it.

I remember Scully TH. I used to really like that. Boys from the Blackstuff was great too with the immortal Yosser Hughes!

I have boys from the Blackstuff on DVD.

It also has the original play which was simply called the blackstuff and the series was a spin off from that. Yosser Hughes was the main man in the blackstuff and was not messed up then. It all goes wrong and they get ripped off by some gypsies. At the end if I remember right he does his first headbutt. The boys from the blackstuff is all about how the lads cope when they lose their jobs tarmacking and each episodes concentrates on the lads on an individual basis with the others popping into the story each week.

Did I miss anything important from last week,
that will affect tonights or future episodes?

I gather they are getting together outside his scholl everyday now?

The main thing you missed last week is his left wing revolutionary friends told him they wanted to stir up racial problems to lead to the conditions required for anarchy and he told them no way. They then mentioned Eileen Critchley (his schoolfriend) and he buckled.

Basically its three different stories. The teachers story, Michael Murray the boy, and Michael Murray the man and they all link together.

He also met his new posh bird at the hotel - Barbara. As you may have gathered she is not what she seems.
