I've given Darren's idea a bit of thought so this is a try-out. Now this isn't perfect (in fact it's quite easy to cheat although you're on your honour not to) but it does mean that you get to answer the questions on your own without some clever-clogs answering most of them in the thread before you get here.

Feel free to have a go at
http://pi.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/w2wquiz.htm

When you press the Check Scores button, you'll be taken to another page with your results. Make sure that you then click on the Give Me More link - this will confirm your score and also provide a secret codeword. Post your score AND your codeword in this thread and we'll see who's won :)

If you can spot any obvious flaws, or potential improvements, please also include those in your reply as well.

That's not bad....but unless you posted your codeword, your score is zero. (that's the built-in check to make sure you didn't make your score up)

Could you pass hidden vars rather than sticking them in querystrings? Or alternatively write the scores to a database and cross check them from the 'score page'.

Could you pass hidden vars rather than sticking them in querystrings? Or alternatively write the scores to a database and cross check them from the 'score page'.

I could......but....

1. I was trying to keep it simple
2. The CGI script that calculates the results is hosted on other site
3. The Give Me More page (on my site) also uses javascript to interrogate the query strings in order to determine the codeword
5. My webspace contract doesn't allow CGI, Database, PHP scripting etc.
4. Even if it did, I don't have enough space left.

This was very much a test of concept which appears to work although, as I said at the start, it's not foolproof. I'll post the answers in a minute or two so that you can all be put out of your misery :wink
