I've always deluded myself that I could "easily" make a profit if I had the patience/discipline etc. Alot of the bets I really fancy do win but I then just blow the winnings on anything that moves out of boredom/for the laugh.

So with this in mind I'm going to have a go at this and see what happens.

Staking as follows

Max Bet €200 (4 points)
A Bet €100 (2 points)
B Bet €50 (1 point)

I know many will think those stakes far too high (as a % of bank) but if I was doing this with real money they are the sort of amounts I would bet so might as well keep it realistic.

I do punt on various sports not just horse racing so I hope that doesn't preclude me from doing this?

After reading Ginger's amazing insight into value it has given me a new lease of life in gambling. I now have "the table" framed and hanging in my room. If only I had know that 6/4 equals 40% before Cheltenham, it could all have been so different.:ermmm

Any sporting event that you can bet on is valid.

Good stuff, I'm lining up a big touch on the curling.

Most posts will be around the weekend so will probably be quiet enough until then.

Right, getting restless so having a go at the football tonight. Utd match of no interest from a punting perspective.

Going with €50 on 1-0 and 2-0 Arsenal, at 7.2 and 7.0 respectively.
1-0 wins €247 and 2-0 wins €238 not including stake.

City despite some recent form have been as blunt as a wooden spoon for the majority of the season. Their strikers are not worthy of the name. Arsenal for their part have been sorely lacking Henry but will probably not drop too many points until the end of the season as the premiership is all they have left.

A couple of seasons ago I would have seen this as a goal fest but not anymore. A Chelsea style victory over a dogged City is what I'm betting on.

€900 so much for all that reasoning....

€50 on Silencio 3.30 Cheltenham

King horses going well and seemed to enjoy the conditions last time out.

3rd, €850 left, not as easy as I thought!

Liverpool/Blackburn double on bf €100 at 2.22 potential profit €116.

Liverpool should have the ability to beat a notoriously poor Borough side on their travels.

Hughes still has his eye on Europe and will need to be beating a sorry Watford side if he's to have any hope.

Back Graham McDowell at 44 on bf for €50.

Lay at 10 for €50.

Potential returns €1619 if he wins.
If more than €50 matched at 10 and he doesn't win bet void.
Otherwise it's a mythical €50 down the swanny.

Played well last week and was saying that this course should suit his game. He's a streaky kind of player, when he's good and his confidence is up he can be very good.

When he's bad, he's atrocious.

So balance for the time being is €700 with 2 bets pending

I'm gonna go out on a limb and take on the power in the darts tonight.

Lloyd had a 103 average in his last match and is definitely on the upgrade. Its more in hope than expectation but at 5/1 (Taylor is 1.2 to lay), and getting the draw, it's worth an interest.

Lay Taylor 1.2 for €250 (liability of €50)

€666 - I may have traded it at halftime if I had have had real money on. Desperate performance from Utd, think they finished with 1 shot on target for the entire match!!

Decent performance from McDowell - 9th - but not good enough unfortunately.

Going for a couple of Bolger/Manning combo's who seem to have done exceptionally around Leopardstown of late and have a couple of nice looking types today.

Asafa in the 2.55 (3.5 on bf) and AkuaBa in the 16.25 (4.8 on bf).

€100 on each.

€200 on Aces Four in the 4.40 at Punchestown.

I was waiting patiently for his next race after being very impressed with him keeping pace with Denman for the majority of the race at Cheltenham. He didn't disappoint at Aintree and unless he's come out of the race badly there's no reason why he shouldn't follow up tomorrow with similar ground likely.

I'll also be having some hard earned as opposed to mythical on this so will be praying for a win. I'll put up a mythical 3.25 on bf, I'll have to check the history to see if I could have been matched.

€216 balance, will change offer to 3.0 or take SP if that's not matched. Hendry bet is still out there...

That was so sickening it's unbelievable. Thought it was in the bag.

Bad day at the office in every sense. Drowning my sorrows.

Not a horse to be banking on, I'd had a few cans when I put that up. Mind you I wouldn't have mentioned that had it won!!

Only my one outstanding bet on Hendry in the outright snooker (returns €550) can save me now.

There's no shame in entering the hall of shame.
