I've been working on an under/over 2.5 goals system again and I think I have found something that works for the Premiership at last. From the start of the 05-06 system to the end of 2009 (partway through this season) the summary stats are:

714 bets
428 winners
59.94% SR
69.40pts profit
9.72% ROI

I have used average under/over odds from Betbrain over that period to develop this system (and hence that is what those stats are based on) so this is a paper trade trial till the end of this season to see how it holds up to real odds, not that that allows much of a test but let's see how it does anyway. The attached graph shows how profits have accumulated so far.

I'm not going to give out the rules but it won't take a rocket scientist to work them out after a few weeks :wink

I have hastily renamed this thread as I have found a few more (potential) systemsand would like to keep them all in one place. I reckon I can put together one for each division and one for the whole of the English league structure. I have been working on the latter this afternoon and have got something that looks really promising, a profit of around 70pts a season on average and a ROI of nearly 14%. Watch this space for more in the next day or so... :thumbs

I have also attached the profit graphs for these systems so you can see how the profits are earned. It's a pretty smooth progression in each case, which is certainly promising for the future. It suggests no long losing runs and a nice steady accumulation of regular profits. I'll try to get round to a seasonal breakdown of the profits to double check there hasn't been one good year making up the bulk of the profits but it doesn't look that way based on the graphs. I want to give each of the systems a bit more thought too as they are based around very simple ideas and I can't help but think that one doesn't stumble across systems with double figure ROIs quite so easily. I'm going to paper trade them all from the midweek games to the end of the season to see how they go and re-evaluate in the summer.

I have done some more work on these systems today just to make sure they are watertight and I think it's all working out quite nicely. I have done a quick check on the odds for a couple of divisions for this season and the odds I am recording from Oddschecker for my other under/over systems are slightly better than the average Betbrain odds I have used to develop these systems, which is what I would expect as I pull out the best odds from Oddschecker rather than the average odds. What this check suggests is that the profit levels I have recorded when developing these systems ought to be possible, if not slightly beatable. That's good news, I'm chuffed with that. :)

I have also looked at the seasonal profit breakdowns for each system. It's a mixture of good and not so good news here I'm afraid.

Premiership - consistently profitable for the first three seasons then much less so for the past couple of years. No losing years though.

I've changed the rules for the All Divisions system a bit as the original rules produced a pretty poor (i.e. losing) 09-10 season so far. The new rules result in a slightly lower ROI but at least each season is now profitable. It's only on trial till the end of the season anyway so let's see how it does now.

An important point to note before I finally stop spewing out seemingly random numbers and actually put up some tips is that I expect the profit figures I am posting to be beatable, overall. Not just because of the odds thing I mentioned earlier. Each system is actually built up from a number of mini-systems, some of which will suggest a bet on over 2.5 goals and some on under 2.5 goals. These may pick the same match and it would be stupid to back both over and unders on a given match as both won't be odds-against so we'd lose on the match. If these are eliminated it should make a few points difference each year I reckon.
