I don't usually feel sorry for Rio but in this case I do.

I think to be fair to Hodgson he was probably just naive. I'm sure he'll keep his mouth shut in the future!

Why would he be picked in the squad anyway? He's been past his best for a while and I personally think he's always been vastly over rated.

I am not sure how much Hodgson said but this "Rio for England" stuff is just pathetic now. It is cooked up by the media, keeping on and on. As Neville said the other other night, look how long ago Rio played for England! He is not up to it now,lost a fair bit of pace which got him out of trouble.. his form in the Premier League is not great, there are definitely people in front of him now, if I was him I would announce my international retirement and stop all this nonsense. & btw...at his peak he was miles better than anything we have now but times moves on I'm afraid.
