...or more likely......why the hell didn't the Yanks land at Heathrow so we could all go on the runway and kick sevens kinds of :censored: out of the terrorist scum :thumbs (allegedly)
It's all semantics..we handed Diego Garcia over to the Americans many years ago so they could keep a few hundred B52's hanging about the place. In fact, we were so keen to eradicate all evidence that the place actually belonged to us, that we booted out all the indigenous people so that the Americans could have enough room to build the runway.
To apologise because a couple of flights just happened to refuel (perfectly legitimately) in a territory that no Briton has set foot in, and even less could point it out on a map, is ludicrous.
