Make a note of any other info such as numbers that look like 0x00000234 and then type the number into Microsoft knowledge base.
Otherwise, a reinstallation of Word (don't even attempt to repair it!) should cure the problem.
Thanks Oldham..will give that a go.Originally Posted by TheOldhamWhisper

search for NORMAL.DOC without Word open and Delete it, this is probably causing the errror then Reboot PC, reopen word and it should recreate the Normal.Doc and then everything should be fine :) better than a re-install have Office Disc handy in case it asks for it.

The Jockey Club gave this statement in answer to your question;
'The integrity and errors in your MS Word software is down to the illegal unlicensed layers on the exchanges. In order to get MS Word working as normal we need to heavily tax all layers, and force them back underground to ensure we have no audit trail. Start -> Search -> For Files and Folders
Type in 'Normal.doc' or if that doesn't come up try '*.doc' (in both cases excluding the quote marks)
Hope this works
Please take a look at:

I would think it's more likely to be the template file that's corrupt, e.g. normal.dot rather than normal.doc.
Try clicking Start, Run and type in Winword.exe /a (with a space before /a)
If Word works okay then your template is corrupt so close Word and any other programs that might be running, use the search facility to find normal.dot, rename or move it, and start Word again.
.
you could just change normal.dot to normal.dat, abnormal.dot/dat....Originally Posted by Larsson7
Word will look for the file, when it cannot find it, it will create another...
