    Win2Win Poker Competition!

I have toyed with the idea for a while now and want to gauge forumites opinions.

I was thinkning about starting a regular Win2Win Competition.

Basically, this would be a 10 week competition, with players accumulating points over 10 games of poker.

At the end of those 10 weeks, I could either pay the winner by means of a free bet, amazon vouchers, cash etc, or I could invite the top 6 players into a FINAL tabel tounament to fight it out for a winner takes all competition (or possibly 2 pay outs).

I thought I would sound out the idea, and see if there is much interest in such a competiton.

Any thought's ideas are more than welcome.

Should we get a nice amount of interest, I will finalise the rules at the weekend, and the competition can start properly on April 22md! :)

    What do you all think?

I'll give it a go - you need to make sure it's held on a site everyone can access.

Ladbrokes seemed to be quite popular last weekend?

Bet564 and Ladbrokes would seem to be the pick of the sites?

Does everyone have access to either site or could they open an account with one or t'other by April 22nd?

Also, you don't need to worry about being there every week, but obviously the more times you turn up, the points you will accumulate! :)

Also, for those that don't normally play poker, or are beginner... would be a good opportunity for a friendly game where you can learn as you go with the very real chance of winning some dough at the end! :)

Even though the comp carries an overall prize, I would still go with the low buyin to deter the 'freeroll' thieves!

    Yep, good point Oldham...

the weekly games would be low buy0in games ($2.25 + $.50) Or something like that! Works out about £1.50 per game.

So as well as the ultimate prize, you would still be competing for a monetary reward each week that you play! :)

    Hmm,

what about 2 games a week.

One on sunday's and one on an alternative day? To give people like Kookoo a chance like?

I think you'd have to publish a list of fixtures in advance and perhaps on a different day every week to make it fairer. Perhaps even a few different start times.

With a regular Sunday slot each week?

Or doyou mean abandon the sunday game, and have 1 game on an alternative day each week,
or 2 games, 1 an alternative day with the other on regular sunday's?

I would suggest a regular Sunday game external to the competition with the competition fixtures taking place at varying times. Otherwise people like Kookoo are missing 50% of the games right off the bat

You could stick to the 10 game format - alternating between Sunday and another day each week. Counting only each player's top 5 results would mean that players who cannot play on certain days at least have the chance to record a full set of results.

Of course, count only the top 5. So simple an idea but brilliant all the same. Good thinking Oldham

Well if you really don't object to a total novice taking part I'd love to have a go - rather make a prat of myself in friendly company than with a bunch of strangers !
Not too sure how it works yet - when you say it works out about £1.50 per game, is that total amount I'd stand to lose in each game ? ( Not that I expect to lose you understand ! :D )
I don't have an account with either Bet365 or Ladbrokes, so not bothered which, if I know beforehand which it is I can open one.

No objections at all, and you're not a total novice. You know the structure of the game - what else do you need to know at this stage?

Not too sure how it works yet - when you say it works out about £1.50 per game, is that total amount I'd stand to lose in each game ? ( Not that I expect to lose you understand ! :D )
Yep, that's your max loss. Every pays the same amount as an entry fee and gets the same number of chips. The winner is the person to take all the chips on the table. When you run out of chips you are eliminated. So the only money you can lose is that initial buy-in, which works out at about £1.50.

I don't have an account with either Bet365 or Ladbrokes, so not bothered which, if I know beforehand which it is I can open one.
Bet365 has proved unpopular recently but if you have neither account you can always open both to be on the safe side and take advantage of any opening bonuses from both operators.

    Vegy,

Count me in, but how are the points going to be allocated?

The point allocation per game must have to depend on the number of players per game, yes/no?

You can't allocate say 10pts to the winner of a game that only started with 4 players, and also 10pts to the winner in a game that started with 20+ players, or can you/will you?

Shouldn't the points be awarded in a way that reflects how many people the winner has had to eliminate to win that particular game?

There is a poker playing site that uses this principle.. I won't post it's link unless someone OK's it.

This is purely my slant on this, not a criticism.

    Regards

    Ada.

I've spoken to a couple of the poker regulars Ada,

and they were of the same opinion.

Points would be awarded upwards, 1 for the player going out first and an additon al point for each player upwards.

There will also possibly be points for eliminating players!

I have yet to finalise the small details but am happy to consider any alternative suggestions that can be discussed in "the group" :D
