    The RP site

I noticed that in the new RP, the stats for hurdle and chase races have been separated.

I also noticed that NHF races are classed as Hurdle races for the stats.

    This got me wondering.

Just how does a NHF race, where there are no obstacles, count as a jumps race. let alone a hurdle race?

I thought NHF races were mainly used to get NH horses used to the racecourse (not all have come from a flat career, some don't start training till they are 3yo or 4yo) and to give them a clue as to what they should be doing when they go out on an away day from the stable. The races are longer than most flat races so it's a useful way of not only getting them used to racing but getting them used to running for a couple of miles too.

But doesn't it distort the figures, in that they haven't actually run in races where they have had to jump over thiings?

Yeah, probably. But that's more down to how the RP choose to record the figures. Not that you should ever take the figures at face value anyway. You should look back over the form and see what races the horse has actually competed in rather than just go on the RP form figures.

I do if I'm studying form, but I do use the figures in my NH system!

Although, now they have separated the hurdle and chase figures, I may have to trial the system again!

Have you looked at Sporting Life to see if you can use their form figures instead?
