Scrub the 7/7. I've just checked the thread and I put IFK in there as well. Pillock.
I've often wondered about doing a kind of accumulator but step by step where you try to start with one that is pretty much a cert (as much as they can be anyway!) and then you bank half the profit and put your original stake plus the other half of the profit on the next pick, and so on.
Yeah, why not :) Ok, to keep it more interesting I'll try and get one or more a day to keep it going quickly. I think I might try to not go too odds on with the first selection to get things moving as well.
So as it's a mythical bank we'll start with a £100 stake. If it wins, half the profit (I'll remove 5% as a standard commission as I'll use betfair prices) and the original stake will go onto the next selection. If it loses then it'll be a short accumulator
Going to go with one that could be a tight one as Fiorentina are a decent side.
AC Milan to beat Fiorentina @ 1.59
If this wins then 100+ profit (56.05) will go onto Drogheda to beat UCD later @ 1.49 (will use that price as I won't be about at that time to check price then) Of course if Milan don't win it's irrelevant
Last two posts are nearly spot on. The idea of an 'ongoing' accumulator is a very simple and effective way of making larger profit. As was said, you can take out profit along the way thus reducing the pressure. The 'pressure' angle is one that a lot of the 'mug' punters tend to ignore, but I believe it is one of the vital ingredients to making a profit. It's this 'pressure' angle that MattR is already creating for himself by doing bets immediately, two in fact. It's fine if you sincerely believe that they are 'good things', but I'm not convinced this is the case here. You don't have to 'move things along quickly'. Who says that you do ? You are in total control, so you should be the one who decides when and where. If you set parameters, you then feel obliged to stick to them.................so don't. In doing so, you create needless pressure. It's so easy for anyone to 'spout' about how to do things, and we've all done and said something similar during our betting 'careers', but the bottom line here is DISCIPLINE.
Falling down early is not the end of the world. As long as you know the bet was 'the right one', get back on the horse and start again.
I will have a go at this myself and see if I can put into practice that which I preach.
Bet 1, Drogs @ 1.46.
I agree Skittle..
That's why you will find my Monty Bets could be anything from 3 days to 10 apart, you've got to be confident that your picking the right selections before placing a bet, mind you they don't always win, but it's they way I like to do things...:D
My main bet on Drogs tonight and I've placed a small fun bet on Stephen Hughes @ 6/1 to score anytime for Motherwell, he signed for them on the last day before the transfer deadline.
Totally agree Skittle, the only reason I did that was just for the sake of making the thread move along quicker as I wasn't doing it with real money. But on reflection it isn't worth doing that way for two reasons. One, as you say, picking them for the sake of it rather than because you actually think they are the right pick, and two if it's not done with real money (even £2 start) you won't get an accurate test as you'll tend to go with the pick if it's mythical even if you are not 100% sure you would with real money on it.
As it turns out AC Milan did draw so I'll start again when the right game comes along and I'll start with a £2 bet and proceed from there.
................and it's called 'sod's law' that we go down as well. C'est la vie. Onwards.
Try again........
