Should work if it's legal. Should be an option to register via a web site. I had to do Diskeeper Pro that week, it wouldn't register via the software.

the product key is on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop but it doesn't activate the programmes

Actually they are probably already activated, they usually are if pre-installed.
