    Ada's Football Result Prediction Game

    Hi guys,

I notice that several of you are planning to take part in Fantasy Football League & Score Prediction games during the up-coming season.

I also have a Football Result Prediction game ready to go on 15th August.
What I need to know is whether (or not) there are sufficient numbers of you who wish to take part in my game as well as the games you have already subscribed to?

If the participation level is too low, I will pull my game.

For your information, the rules are as follows:

The game will include 15:00 kick-off games on Saturdays ONLY.

I will post up 15 randomly picked matches each week......3 from each of 5 of the 6 following divisions:

    Barclays Premiership
    Coca Cola Championship
    Coca Cola League 1
    Coca Cola League 2
    Blue Square Premiership
    Scottish Premier League

The 5 divisions will be picked on a cyclical basis each week.

Players must choose 1 match from each of the 5 divisions.
Players must then place 1 of the following bets on each of their 5 chosen matches.....

    i) +/-2.5 goals @ 11-10
ii) Home Win, Draw or Away Win (H,D,A) @ 2-1
iii) Half Time/Full Time @ 5-1 (ie HH or DA or AH etc)
iv) Correct Goal Difference** @ 7-1
    v) Correct Score @ 10-1

For example: Players must have one correct score bet on one of their chosen matches, one HT/FT bet on another...etc.

Which bet each player decides to place on which match is up to them.

    Staking
Players can stake between a minimum 5pts (1pt per bet) & up to a total of 50pts each week to cover their 5 bets.
How much they stake on each bet is up to each player but the total staked on their 5 bets must not exceed 50 pts.

Each player will start the game with 0 points & this total will go up or down according to points staked & the odds appropriated to each bet (see above)

    **Correct Goal Difference
This is ALWAYS calculated by subtracting the AWAY team's score (A) from the HOME team's score (H)........H - A = GD
For example.....if you post a positive value of GD....say....2.....you are predicting that the HOME team will win by 2 goals (OR the AWAY team will lose by 2 goals).
Conversely....if you post a negative value of GD....say....-1.....you are predicting that the HOME team will lose by 1 goal (OR the AWAY team will win by 1 goal).
If you post a GD of 0 you are predicting the final score will be a DRAW.

    Banker Bet
    This is optional.
Each player may choose 1 of their 5 bets each week to be a Banker Bet.
If this bet wins the payout will be at 2 x odds.
If however, the bet loses, 2 x stake will be DEDUCTED from the player's score.

I'm in Ada, as Mat says the fantasy team will be left pretty much as it is and my I Know The Score thing only takes me 5 minutes a week anyway.

My keyboard's running out of ink....

Nice one Ada, I'm in. Hopefully more will be too. :D

Please could somebody be kind enough to explain the below bet type, with an example? It's not a bet type I have ever made, so not really sure how it works.

It's over/under 2.5 goals isn't it? Will the total number of goals in the be more than or less than 2.5?

yes for example when Man Utd go to Anfield this year, if you think there will be more than 2.5 goals John,(3-0 to Utd maybe :D) you bet over but if you dont think there will be over 2.5 goals, say a 1-1 draw then you go under. Ada has put a rule here though that your bet should be over 11/10 whatever you pick....as I understand it anyway.

I'm in as well thanks Ada.

Just to clarify the bet types & odds.......

For the purpose of this game all the odds quoted are set & fixed by me, & have no bearing on actual odds offered/quoted by online bookmakers or exchanges on match outcomes.

For example: If you post a 15pt bet on +2.5 goals (over) to be scored in a match between Man U & Arsenal......and the final score is 3 - 2 then you win.
    Payout is 15pts @ 11-10 = 16.5pts profit.
If the score is 1 - 0 then you lose.....15pts are deducted from your score.
The same odds (11-10) apply for -2.5 goals (under) predictions.

If you post a 5pt Correct Score bet of 2 - 1......and the final score IS 2 - 1 you win.
    Payout is 5pts @ 10-1 = 50pts profit.
If the score is anything different you lose.......5pts are deducted from your score.

This principle applies to all 5 bet types.

I get it now Ada, they are your odds. I misunderstood thinking that the bets have to meet a minimum price criteria. I've put the brain back in now for what it is worth.

This could be interesting, trying to figure out where Ada's fixed odds represent value... :)

    FAO...Iron Chris

I Emailed you on Wednesday with the details of the first 2 weeks fixtures of the game.
The address I used was the one you have nominated in the past for receipt of Amazon vouchers you have won.

You may need to check your SPAM inbox.

If you haven't received it then Email me at:
    Email Address Removed

The reason I am using Email at the moment (instead of posting the details) is because I haven't arranged/decided where on the forum the game will be run from.

    No Vegy,

I only sent an Email to Iron Chris because he posted in advance that he is going to be on holiday for the next 2 weeks or so, but still wants to be included in the game.

No-one else has posted their absence in advance, so they will be playing the game by posting their bets on a game thread (wherever that may be, until I check with Keith) somewhere on this forum.

    Email sent Ada...

Some difficult match choices which will help make the game very interesting as the game progresses. Lots of different things to consider with the bets...:)
