    The Political Compass

An interesting website that touches on where we stand as individuals based on our actual values, as opposed to the actions imposed upon us from political parties.

Includes a free test too, which I have just taken (my results are attached).

Give it a whirl - some of the questions really make you think about what you stand for.

    http://www.politicalcompass.org

Link to the test is on the left hand side.

Forgot to include the figures but looking at the examples, the graph puts me somewhere in the region of Nelson Mandela Very interesting exercise John, thanks for posting that!

I am nearly Tony Benn I think! Some of those question were tough ones.

I didn't think I would be that far left.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time. Like tears in rain. Time to die.

I'm really surprised at how close I am to the 'Authoritarian' section. I wonder what that actually means; perhaps I like to see strong rules in place where I think they're needed, as acts of controlled regulation. Saying that, I remember 'disagreeing/strongly disagreeing' with all the power/hierarchy-based questions. Yet, I think there has to be some fundamental element of control, otherwise people do as they please.

I'm waiting for Keith to post his graph in the top-right. :D

I would have preferred to see a more neutral option in there as some questions I really didn't agree or disagree with. And it's more in my nature to agree/disagree than to strongly express the feeling. After all how strong does the feeling have to be to qualify as strongly agreeing/disagreeing? There were few I actually had string feelings about

Yeah I know what you mean Mat, I was thinking the same. Having said that, I felt myself strongly agreeing/disagreeing with some - 4 out of the 5 religious questions I strongly disagreed with. I guess the strength of your decision to agree/disagree is very personal/contextual; it's difficult to put a measure on.

Crikey let's hope Tony and Ben [SC] aren't running the country else we'll be doing away with a democracy.

I'd rather trust the country to him than most other politicians.
