Big day Mick, my day also has more qualifiers than average.
HI BM yes it is but for myself may not end up so, the horses i put up here are the ones from which my own bets are placed,but owing to going changes or unrealistic prices i often swerve some of them its a swings and roundabouts thing but on balance increases my ROI.
Sometimes a descision is not made until close to the off,and i realise that these factors cannot be fairly included in this challenge.
To day is a good example with the strong poss of going changes at several courses.
personally I wouldn't have a problem if some of your selections are cancelled here prior to the off. you are right about the going today which is likely to be changable and possibly will shake things up a bit.
As for my results from the past month or so with the settled weather I'm starting to think that perhaps changeable conditions are better for my systems although it would take a massive amount of time to prove one way or another.
Also I think you probably have the right idea swerving the low odds, I don't do this in an attempt to keep the strike rate up, but I think most people on here would agree that its difficult to get a good roi with very short prices.
HI BM as with all things in racing it is difficult to achieve a balance,i dont tend to just swerve only those below 7/4 there is the odd occasion when even this price could be viewed as reasonable value,and conversely 4/1 may be below the exceptable price range for a selection,but trying to incorporate this and other factors into the challenge would i fear create unnecessary complications to what is viewed as a bit of fun.
As one example from today Ham 7.35 indian skipper i have formed the opinion that the FC G-F going is a necessity if i am to back him but with showers FC i will have to wait until 7.30pm before placing my bet, this type of decision i have to make on a frequent basis and is an important part of the whole.
In fact when referring to my own ROI on this forum i tend so as not to complicate matters quote the same figs as prouduced by the challenge horses but in real terms because of losers swerved and prices obtained they are much better than claimed as i would rather sell my self short than be thought of as a bragging after timer.
wow, ghostwing shortened a lot before the off.
8/6 5 bets one not backed the other 4 lost so loss of £120
bank = £1626.35
Fascinating stuff tho! See that Tangerine Trees? Won 7 races, never won by more than a neck but
I would put the name Micky P in your notebook Mick. Your Sharp Eclipse just beaten 5l's by a filly who was behind him last time - in time of the meet fashion but the first two that day won on the same card too. That Bonnie Brae should be winning again but Micky P should be on a winning mark for sure!
