It's a mickey mouse cup, and he wanted to save his players for the Sunderland game ( carroll) for instance.
To me a cup is a cup, they are never gonna win the premiership, but I guess the managers are under so much pressure to perform in the premiership they keep their best players for this and sacrifice the other games
