Lay Systems - What price cut-off?

    Hi all

When creating a lay systems what price is generally considered to use a cut-off? 10.5?

Lets say with a lay system with an 85% SR with a starting bank of £100 and a 1% bank level stake.

Does it really matter about the bank level and stake %?

Is it ok to layonly if the horse falls within a range of prices eg. 2.00 - 7.50?

Some of the systems I've been looking at evens and below have a high sr of winning horses and lay loss but between 2.00 & 7.50 the sr drops and lays show a good profit.

Thanks guys and I look forwarding to hearing your advice and comments.

I've never really found it worthwhile doing Min-Max ranges with lay systems, as the SR should mean all ranges produce profits. The reason for a cut-off though is that the overbet eats the profit, and eventually reverses it into a loss the higher the price, and this can happen as early as 13.0, hence the normal cut-offs are between 10.0-13.0, witch 10.5-11.0 usually being the safest.

If you are specifically targetting high priced horses to lay, then the opposite would be true, and you'd use a minimum cut-off. One I have uses a price of 69.0, however you need really large banks to do this, so it's not really worth bothering with.

One more question what if one of the rules was not lay the horse if its the fave (using the exchanges just before the off) or is that the same as using price ranges?

    Cheers

That's a rule not a cut-off, as long as it applies to every potential qualifier
