    ANNOUNCEMENT

    A valid point Marcus.

This applies especially to players way down the Leaders Table who have virtually no chance of greatly improving their positions by only being able bet the normal 1pt win or place and 1pt EW. To encourage them to continue playing to the end of the month and not give up, I am proposing the following for the June game........

Each player may DOUBLE THE STAKES on SIX of their bets throughout the duration of the month's game. All other stakes remain as normal. So...

If you specify a (2Win) bet the stake will be 2pts.
If you specify a (2Place) bet the stake will be 2pts.
If you specify a (2EW) bet the stake will be 4pts (2pts EW).

ANY BET that is intended to be a Double Stakes bet (either a main selection OR reserve pick) MUST be specified as above. If the bet fails to include the '2' it will be treated as a normal 1pt Win, 1pt Place or 1pt EW.

Please note: these 6 Double Stake bets are optional.
You don't have to play all 6 if you don't want to.
Play any number you like UP TO A MAXIMUM of 6.
You don't have to play ANY if you don't want to.

Losing Double Stakes bets will result in the doubled stake being deducted from your points total.

You may play up to 6 Double Stakes bets on up to ANY 6 days during the month,
ie you may choose to save them up to use on the last 6 days of the month to increase your chances of improving your position in the Leaders Table.
OR you may decide to choose to use them in races where you are particularly confident of your selection running well.
Bear in mind that the leaders and other players may/may not adopt the same strategy.

    Any comments?

I have an impressive bank of knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, I've lost the combination to this bank.

It seems like a good idea Ada, but if someone has worked really hard (or been fortunate enough) to be ahead going into the last day, is it fair that they should be able to be overtaken by all and sundry who have one day of furtune (or good tipping) ?

I can see it from both sides, just wonder what others think ?

I didn't see the afterchat on yesterday's thread.

Looks a popular idea, and I'm sure it will be a good thing as everyone knows the rules at the start, and could well make for a lot of tactical selections on the last day, which may increase competition right up until the end.
