I removed the tarpaulin from Alfies face, whispered God Bless, replaced it and followed the others outside.
EPISODE 24
On our way to our home for the night, I was still in shock. I couldn't stop thinking about poor Alf... how his family would feel, how he had been punished for saving OUR lives. It was the first time I had ever been involved in a gun fight, and I hoped the last. I could still feel myself shaking at the experience.
We arrived at a kind of cottage, somewhat camouflaged by the surrounding forrestry. It was dark so that probably helped. They had driven the last several minutes without the lights on. Sam, who was driving, must have known the area to have been able to avoid all the obstacles. Upon entering, Sam and John drew all the curtains... thick black plastic sheets. Then we switched the light on. They were going to serious efforts to hide us, they must have believed that we were in some amount of danger... I didn't like it.
There was only one double bed... John said that me and Sam could have it, but I said I would feel more comfortable on the floor, I didn't expect that I would get much sleep anyway. I said that BigC might find it more beneficial after the trauma's he had suffered in the last couple of days!
I was wrong about the sleep, i did manage to drift off... must have been a long day. I awaoke with John, BigC, and Sam all ready and waiting. I did wonder how they all managed to stay so fresh and why they never woke me when there where things to be done! I moved into the bathroom and got myself ready! I came out and asked where we were going.
"We can't afford to stick around one place for too long" siad John.
" The sooner that we move the better, and anyway we have rescued BigC, let us not forget about Delcie"
Delcie, for my sins, I had completely forgotten about her. I was so wrapped up in my own turmoil that I had forgotten about the single reason that I had accompnied these people on their crusade. I felt overwhelmed with guilt. How could I have forgotten. I didn't have time to wollow however, we had to jump in the car and make our way back to the plane and make our way to Natal.
The guys weren't confident though. They new that the Giunchiglio were onto them, how else could that factory have been empty. I could feel the tenseness. We were probably walking into a trap, but couldn't let delcie down.
We arrived in Natal, in mid afternoon. I was beginning to wonder how many people were involved in W2W operations because when we arrived in the plane, we were greeted by yet another member of their team... a Mister Mark Wales...
