    Can you pick 10 correct?

Ok guys… I’ve been thinking about a winning bet from last weekend. Some of you might have read about it. The bet I’m talking about was posted on another forum, when guy called Trogdor successfully picked all 10 selections correct and he won over $23,000.
I’ve managed to pick 9 out of 10 correct twice before, but I’ve never managed to hit all ten...
This will be a fun bet, so I’ll only be putting on my minimum stake on my 10 just incase I managed to get them all.
What I would like you all to do? is pick your best 10 teams from the weekend’s fixtures. Your selections can be from any football league you want?
Now remember, you don’t have even place a bet on your teams, as I just want to see what the average amount of results that people will get right from their 10 selections.

So I would be grateful if you all posted up your 10 picks. I think you will all be surprised how low it will turn out. I’ll have a guess and say most people will get around 5 correct from 10

    Don’t be chicken have go…:D

Hopefully a few more people will have a go at this, after all it's just a bit of fun to prove how hard it is to do.

Y'know the biggest problem with bets like this (in my opinion) - people always underestimate the potential for a draw.

You've both gone for 10 winners and I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say that of those 20 games there will be 3 draws in there

    Your 100% right mate,

The reason I picked 10 home wins is I've always read that over a season home wins will account for around 50% of the games played, and the other 50% is shared between Aways and Draws, so going by thise figures there could be up to 5 matches drawn from the 20 matches picked already.

Mathare....I'll look forward to seeing your 10....:D

    Hi M

I had thought you would have picked your teams from the Brazilian Divison 4 League?

I don't think it is generally underestimating the draw potential.

Normally people choose games in an acca where they think a team will dominate and the margin will be 2 goals plus.

A draw inclines you think the match will be close and your preferred result is not guaranteed until the whole of the 90+ minutes are up. Whereas the thinking behind mine is most of the games wil be over by HT and I can sit back and relax!

You're right Mat, that's why an acca is so hard to get up. Look at Man utd v Sunderland last time they were up. Who'd have picked 0-0 for that?

    Exactly.

This is what I meant maybe more than underestimating the draw potential. The more bets in the acca the greater the likelihood that one of the games won't go the way you expect. And as most people put perceived bankers in accas of this size it's more likely to be a draw that brings the bet crashing down rather than a win for the other team.

Trebles used to be my limit on the football. Now I stick to singles, and only rarely do those.

But out of interest, do we have to use win/draw/win markets here or can I get adventurous?

What? Like Postponed and Match Abandoned ?

Now that would be worthy of 23K :D

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time. Like tears in rain. Time to die.

Just to keep it easy I would prefer if everyone used the win/draw/win markets, but if you want to get adventurous you can use any market you want, after all its just a fun thing...:D
