Bought a 22" Dell 2209WA monitor a couple of months ago and I'm thrilled with it. Of the dozen or so people that have seen it since, they've all admired it and some have ordered.

I stuck with my old cathode tube monitor because I do quite a bit of photography and the colour of flat screens just didn't do it for me. This particular Dell model was recommended on a several photo forums and I took the plunge. It uses a different type of screen technology that gives a much better picture at wide angles of view and the colours are superb. There's even a guy giving an impressive demo on YouTube, if you search for it.

To top it all, it has a five year on site g'tee and it was delivered within 18hrs.!! ZERO dead or bright pixels and, from what I've heard, even if it had they would've taken it straight back and replaced it under Dell's zero dead pixel g'tee.

Although it's 1080 res., I quite like the black bars top and bottom on movies - the software controls fit nicely in there.

I can't stand WS for PC use. I use 1920x1200 resolution which keeps everything in perspective as it should be on a PC.

Software that plays WS will then adjust to what resolution it requires, rather than for the PC to stretch to WS.

Well, it's widescreen compared to my old 17" CRT, but I got the resolution wrong. It's 1680 x 1050 and I have no problem with any software or distortion. Compared to my old CRT, it's fantastic to be able to see a wide Excel spreadsheet without having to scroll across. Also good for having two pages open side-by-side - useful when replying to emails, etc. However, I got it mainly because of the reviews it had from photographers saying how good the colours are, and I agree.

DVD's just show with thin black bars across the top and bottom but no distortion. I just place my controls down there. I've also started to use a 3:2 format on my camera as it fills the screen better

The stand is a good one, firm and steady but allows smooth and easy repositioning. It also has four USB ports which is useful for connecting a mouse, etc.

I upgraded to a quad core a while ago and this monitor just finishes the upgrade nicely. I love it!

I got the quadcore a couple of years back, just waiting for AMD's 8-core sometime in the next few months, and if Win7 is doing OK, I'll upgrade to that as well.
